"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." This may hold true for art. In Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, however, our work does not rest on trends or subjective preferences, but on the firm foundation of anatomy, morphometry and scientific evidence. We change physical appearance and improve quality of life. This is a fascinating privilege.
Yet quality does not arise in the operating room alone. Good outcomes must not only be achieved, but also measured, compared and refined. This is precisely where quality management begins, as applied science in the best sense. It helps us turn experience into knowledge, and knowledge into better medicine. Anyone who wants to make the specialist quality of our field clearly visible must also stand up for the training of the next generation. Quality management and the support of the next generation in aesthetic surgery are not a luxury, but the foundation of its credibility and its future.
The 31st Annual VDAEPC Meeting 2027 in Berlin invites you to do exactly that. In exchange with interdisciplinary experts, we discuss as equals what truly holds up in our clinical practice. Under the motto "The Science of Attractiveness", attractiveness research takes center stage this year. It shows that attractiveness is not an arbitrary matter of taste, but a scientifically investigable phenomenon, with direct relevance for indication, treatment planning, outcome assessment and quality management in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
